Discover the Magic of Family Theatre of Santa Fe Where Performing Arts Come Alive!
The mission of the Family Theatre of Santa Fe is to provide engaging, quality theatre experiences for diverse multi-generational families in Northern New Mexico.
Directing and or tech. directing over 70 shows, Mark holds a BA in Theatre and an MA in Theatre Education from the University of Northern Colorado. He has taught theatre for over 30 years at the high school and college levels and started and managed the theatre program at Odessa College in Odessa, Texas.
Some of the highlights during Mark’s three-decade theatre career include having his Greeley Central high school production of The Death and Life of Larry Benson selected as the mainstage production during the Colorado Thespian Conference in 2008. He was selected as the Colorado high school Theatre Teacher of the Year in 2010 and inducted into the Colorado State Thespian Hall of Fame in 2013. Mark directed the Colorado All-State production of The Foreigner in 2015. Additionally, his Odessa College production of Elephant’s Graveyard was selected as the best play of the TNT festival in Lubbock, Texas in 2017. His Odessa College production of The Diviners garnered this comment from Rich Lopez’s review, he states, “Under Kolokoff’s direction, the play unfolded with humor and emotion leading up to a wondrously intense climax. The tragic outcome, the cast’s sharp timing and Kolokoff’s poetic vision created perhaps the most gut-wrenching moment in West Texas theater so far.”
Mark has developed productions for community and
educational outreach, received grants to bring theatre to schools and started summer intensive theatre workshops free-of-charge to local high schoolers. He believes that theatre should be accessible to all his community and is excited to invest in Santa Fe by bringing family-friendly theatre to multi-generational audiences.
Directing and/or choreographing over 80 productions,
Jeannette brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Santa Fe theatre community. She holds a BA in Theatre/Dance from Cal State Fullerton and MFA in Dance from UC Irvine. Jeannette is the former director of the Musical Theatre Program at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) and the former Executive Director of both the West Texas Symphony and the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra. During her teaching career at UNC, Jeannette directed and choreographed the college regional premiere of A Chorus Line, and other top-line musicals such as Evita, Peter Pan, Oklahoma!, A Little Night Music, Quilters, Man of La Mancha, and The King and I, as well as the operas The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Secret Marriage, Pirates of Penzance and The Medium. Her former students, Tamra Hayden, Joan Hess, and Beth Malone, have all performed on Broadway stages and theaters across the country.
Jeannette’s directing prowess can best be summarized by Rich Lopez’s statement from his reviews of Man of La Mancha and A Little Night Music, he stated, “Kolokoff stepped up with a sharp eye and conviction that gave “La Mancha” a polish that was both grim and glorious. “Director Jeanette Kolokoff crafted the Stephen Sondheim musical (“A Little Night Music”) with exquisite flair for the Permian Playhouse production. With bravura performances and sumptuous sounds, “Night Music” is a show worthy of rushing out to see. Kolokoff helmed a remarkable piece of theater loaded with charm, heart, and smarts.”
Jeannette’s desire to bring theatre to the rural areas of
Colorado and make theatre accessible to multi-generational audiences prompted her to create a grant funded tour of Quilters which she took to twenty small towns across the state. As further outreach, she created shows such as Hope for the Flowers, The Velveteen Rabbit, and review shows featuring composers George Gershwin, Kurt Weill and Gilbert and Sullivan that were performed for thousands of students in Colorado.
For centuries, families have been the foundation of our society and a primary motivation for individuals to engage with their communities in meaningful ways. As Santa Fe County continues to grow, more families will need opportunities for shared experiences. Specifically, Family Theatre of Santa Fe promotes the importance of family opportunities, encouraging collective engagement for parents, children, grandparents, performers, and our extended community.
